Nookie have launched a new Neoprene spray deck in to their already famous line of decks. The Absolute is big bright, bold and buff. Super tough Armotex 4mm neoprene for the deck and a super stretch 3mm waist band for extra comfort.

We will be closed on Sunday 29th and Monday 30th.
We will be open as normal again on Tuesday 31st.

New Surf kayaking website |

Surf Kayak skills is a new website specifically for surf fans.
This website is dedicated to all things technique based in the world of kayak surfing. Written by members of the England Surf Kayak Team, including Glyn Brackenbury a BCU Level 5 Surf Coach, the website aims to provide a contemporary coaching manual that will help paddlers push their paddling to the next level. This could be linking bottom turns to top turns, or aerials to inverts, the site's content will be dictated by you the user, so there's no excuse not to learn something new.

Sevylor Yukon now in stock |
|
Sevylor have now delivered the eagerly awaited new inflatable kayak the Yukon. Slightly larger then the Colorado and a bit heavier duty the Yukon looks set to be one of the best blow up kayaks we have seen for a while.
At just under 4 metres it has plenty of room for two adults. Included is a nice storage back at the stern, perfect for keepinga change of clothes and some grub in for when you pull up at that secret beach no one else can get too.
Neoprene side panels protect the tubes when paddling and make it a bit more forgiving on the hands if you hit the sides. The little splash deck covering at the front also helps keep the legs a bit drier. Inflatable seats maximise the comfort along with the higher back rests.

New staff join the team |

We would like to welcome Alex and Dan to the team.
If you pop in or phone us and hear a new voice or see a new face be nice, its early days for them!
Dan has a history in retail and is set to help us smooth things out with our ever expanding stock and stock control. This meens we should always have what you want. We are currently grooming him to discover his favourite kind of boating. Watch this space....
Alex has joined us for Saturdays and filling in we we fancy a day off! He currently paddles with Totnes canoe club (we met him trying to source a very rare drain bung for his dad). He does lots of volenteer coaching with the club helping out with the junior section. His knowledge is great for a young man and hes calm and collected. Hopefully this will brush off on the rest of us! (not much chance there Ewart!)
We will have a proper staff profile up very soon.

Lendal announce new owners |

Johnson Outdoors Incorporated, based in the United States, has announced the sale of the Lendal brand to Celtic Paddles Ltd, a company which is based in the UK. The deal took place on May 6th 2010 and Johnson Outdoors UK, the British branch of the American parent company, has informed UK dealers of the transaction.
Johnson Outdoors Inc. is a leading global outdoor recreation company and the sale of the Lendal brand follows a comprehensive initiative to reduce costs and optimize the profits of the watercraft side of the business.
“Johnson Outdoors has earned a reputation as one of the world’s premier recreational paddle sports companies. This transaction reinforces our commitment to focus resources on bringing forward new products that strengthen our core brands and grow our customers’ business,” commented Kelly Grindle, Senior Group Vice President, Marine Electronics and Watercraft for Johnson Outdoors in the United States.
Celtic Paddles Ltd. is owned by Nigel Dennis, a renowned sea kayak adventurer and designer. Scott Forristall, the Business Director of Johnson Outdoors Watercraft in the US described Celtic Paddles as “the perfect home for Lendal” and Kelly Grindle added: “The Lendal brand of paddles is well-suited to the Nigel Dennis portfolio, and marks a return to its roots as a respected UK brand.”

The hottley anticipated Open canoeing DVD is here! 180 minutes in a two disc set this new DVD showcases twelve adventure films from the camera of Justine Curgenven and the Cackle Tv production unit. Justine is responsable for the very popular sea kayaking series "This is the sea".
The DVD covers all aspects of open canoeing from Birch bark canoe journeys in the Canadian wilderness to the rigors of competitive slalom canoeing. If you have any interest in open canoeing or being outside this is well worth a watch.

South West Canoe Show: A new date! |

The South West Canoe Show is moving! Not to a different location but to a new date.
The new date for the 2010 SWCS is now earlier in the year.

This new date should help with better weather. The white water season is not far behind so it gives you a chance to check out all the new gear for forthcoming adventures. The show is ideally situated for all of the SW and beyond.
