The Dagger Stratos 14.5 is a fully-fledged touring kayak, but what does this mean?
At 14.5” it will be a little bit harder to lift onto the car, and it will take up more room in the garage than a shorter kayak. But, the advantage of the extra length is a boat that will eat up the miles.
We often say a longer boat will be a lot faster, the truth is, not many people are interested in going fast. The real advantage of having a quicker touring kayak is that it is more efficient. It goes further for less effort, and you will experience more while using less energy! The great thing about the Dagger Stratos is that it has been designed to allow easy manoeuvrability, which is often lost on longer boats. This means the Stratos is capable of some light rock-hopping and moving around in the surf. This does however make the Stratos a touch slower in a straight line than less manoeuvrable alternatives, such as the Wave sport Hydra.

Another benefit of having the additional length is you've got extra storage. The Dagger Stratos 14.5 comes set up with front and rear storage hatches. Whether you want to power up the canal for half an hour, put some kit in it and explore a cove for a weekend, or really load it up with all the kit you need and do a self-supported seven-day trip from Fort William to Inverness on the Great Glen Canoe Trail, the Stratos will take it all in its stride.

There are a few other features that make the Dagger Stratos 14.5 so popular. It's got a sleek, sharp bow to cut through the water. As you look further into the middle of the boat underneath the paddler, it's a bit flatter and wider than a fully-fledged sea kayak. This gives the extra stability and forgiveness that you find in a touring kayak The drop-down skeg, along with the length of the boat, helps it deal with the mixed conditions that a coastal environment can throw up, the Strato can handle it. A plush seat with nice hip pads and adjustable foot pegs allows you to stay comfortable for those longer paddles.

The great thing about the Dagger Stratos 14.5 is that it comes in two sizes, they're both the same length, but the Small and Large sizes are designed for different size paddlers. We normally have both of them available as demos, you can come and sit in them, try them out in the water, and find the right one for you.
