VE's Aircore carbon blade on a cranked carbon shaft. The bends sit your wrists in a more neutral position through the stroke, which takes strain off the joints and is worth considering if you have had trouble with your wrists, elbows or shoulders. Plenty of paddlers without any of that simply find a cranked shaft more comfortable to use, and the moulded grips give you a clear sense of where the blade is without having to look.
Whether you get on with a crank is very much personal preference, so try one before committing if you can. We are happy to talk it through.
The Flyte is built around stroke efficiency. The blade has an assertive catch that encourages you to start the stroke earlier, and the width tapers gradually so it releases cleanly at the end. The shape borrows from slalom racing, where getting everything out of every stroke is the whole game.
Other ways to have the Flyte
Straight shafts are available in carbon or glass, with either the Aircore carbon or the glass blade. The all glass build is heavier but tougher and better value, and remains our most popular option. A two piece version adds length and feather adjustment on the bank and packs down for travel, expeditions or a spare.
