The blade
The Vanda is VE's low angle touring blade: long and narrow at 520 by 156 mm, with 633 cm² of area spread down the length of the blade rather than concentrated near the tip. The entry is very clean, there is almost no flutter and the feel is precise and predictable, which is what you want when the paddle is going in and out of the water all day.
It suits a relaxed, low angle stroke and paddlers whose priority is covering ground comfortably rather than accelerating hard. Built in Aircore carbon only, which keeps the swing weight down on a blade this long.
Straight or bent shaft
A straight shaft suits most paddlers. A bent shaft puts a bend where your hands sit so the wrist stays in a more neutral position, which helps anyone with existing wrist, elbow or shoulder trouble and which plenty of people find more comfortable over distance. It comes down to personal preference.
Like the rest of the VE touring range, the Vanda is a two piece split, so it packs down for transport and you can change length and feather while you are out.
The other VE touring blades
The Skera at 615 cm² works at either a low or a high angle and is the most adaptable of the three. The Fara at 650 cm² is the bigger, higher angle blade for windier, rougher days.
